Small eel like things?

Hope this doesn't sound daft but when I was out last weekend off newbiggin I caught a couple of things that looked like a light coloured eel about a foot long ugly looking things n very slimmy with a sucker type mouth and about 4 barbules they weren't hooked just sucked onto the rag i was fishing on the bottom curiosity has got the better of me anybody any the wiser?

Yer sounds like hag fish, if not them Blenny..if not them..then you discovered a new species

Thanks lads thats exactly what they were good you tubes summs the little horrible bu99ers up I bottled touchin them used a cloth instead
