  • MIDWEEK TRIP: MATCH ABANDONED

Picked Andy up at 7:15 and drove along the coast road to have a look-see........sea LOOKED nice & flat.

It wasn\'t long before it was clear that appearances (from the road) CAN be deceptive.........talk about a rollercoaster......lol.......difficult to keep ya feet.

Better mention it (before anybody else does), I lost me brekfast !!......1st time I\'ve suffered, but once it was up, that was it....felt fine.

We had to give up after only 3 drifts over the 1st wreck......impossible to keep ya feet at times and Alan decided to call it a day.

Bit disapointed, but never mind.....can\'t control the weather, or the sea.

Plenty Mackeral about......Keith, IanW and IanC (I think Gavin did, aswell) got a good few, even though we did only have the 3 drifts.

We\'ll see about sorting another trip out (it\'s probably best to arrange one when I can\'t go coz I\'m at work......the weather\'s ALWAYS better when I\'m at work.....lol).

    Ell........where were you????
We waited \'til 5 to 8 but there was no sign. Still, having read the above, you\'ll have realised that you didn\'t miss anything.

Tony, I must appologise, I was at the car before I realised I hadn\'t said cheerio to you, Ian & Andy, I was miles away!

I told Marc I wouldn\'t mention the fact there was a lad about 7/8yr old and a lassie about 10yr old on the boat who were absolutley fine!

Had we stayed out any longer, think I was next with my head over the side, Alan & Jimmy already said I was second favourite just behind Andy - lol

I thought it was really canny of Alan not to charge us anything for fuel, considering we had covered a fair few miles.

Please put my name down for the next one
    Cheers, Keith.

I am gutted for you lads - i know how upsetting it is to have a trip canceled when you have built yourself up to it.

Still I will be able to go on the next one. Put my name down TC.

Great thing alan did for you I have been in a similar situation in whitby and the skipper still charged us 25 quid each.
give a man a fish and feed him for a day - teach the man to fish and feed him for life!!!!

          Keith,
I think we were all so disapointed that we didn\'t get a good days\' fishing in, that we were all \"miles away\" at the time, m8.

I couldn\'t believe how different the sea WAS compared to how it LOOKED from shoreside.........Just back from a drive through to Whitburn (nice little tea shop there which does a great cappuccino), and the sea DOES look pretty flat !!

We asked Alan about paying for the fuel used, he just said, \"I couldn\'t charge yous for that, it\'s just one of those things\". What a gent, he is.

By the way........thanks for not mentioning the 2 kids being OK......lol

Dunno where it came from....I was feeling absolutely fine all the way out........think it was Marc who set me off.....lol. Still, like I say, once it was up, I felt champion again and ready to fish. Just a shame that the sea was the way it was........still, there\'s always next time.

I MISSED THE BOAT. Sorry for holding you up lads.
Woke up at 7:05 (our lass normally sets the alarm, i tried and failed) On the road by 7:10 gear all packed and waiting. Got clear of 1231 snarl up at 7:30. Had to go to Boldon Asda to get cash on credit card (tough month) figured I could just make the 8:00am Northside if the Tunnel wasn\'t too bad. didn\'t even get that far, machine wasn\'t having any of my PIN(?) no charter fee, I thought someone would be able to cover me but no gaurantee of making it anyway. Back home just after 8:00 but only had Mr. Skinners Landline no. once again sorry guys and a shame to hear about your disappointing trip. Next time eh!

              Aye, next time, Ell.

\"Sorry for holding you up lads.\"......no problem.......we only hung on for 10 mins, Ian,..........just means we would\'ve been back 10 mins earlier, that\'s all...lol

Aye, it was brilliant what Alan did with not charging.

Just been on the phone to Alan as well, on the look for 2 places for friday, only got the one but he\'s going to check with the other lads to see if there\'s any drop outs.

                Top bloke.

It was nearly synchronised barfing at one point...should have had the camera out for some bribary (??) pictures, but never thought about it....was too busy trying to stay upright.

Unfortunately I went and spent more than the charter fee in Billy\'s buying some waterproof boots.

If there\'s another trip in the pipelines I\'ll take a place.
As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

Just away out for a few hours on Shields pier to use the bait I didn\'t use today.
Judging by the amount of fresh water that was flowing out of the harbour thismorning though, I\'d stand more chance going for trout, I think.
