  • Brighouse Bay, Kirkcudbright

I'm head up there next week and just wondering if anyone has fished there before? Theres a slipway on the campsite so I'm going to take the boat up. Just wondering what to expect.

Fished there many years ago but since there's no response to your question thought I would reply we launched from the caravan ramp 16 ft boats but beware go straight out from the ramp into the bay and turn my mate cut the corner and put a hole in his boat we fished out of the bay towards a island using lug we dug in the bay plenty of cod and whiteys good size also dogs l think you could get tope and thornbacks on mackerel someone might give you a more up to date report

if you head out the bay turn left head towards the island with the light house { little ross } about 200 yards off the back side good for bullhuss and ray had about 30 and 2 tope last weekend big Mackie bait . go passed the island head across the bay look for the white watch tower tors point any were in front off then rock Pollock codling . same as turning right from slipway head long the front of the rocks you will come to bourness point/maxamas rock I normaly anchor up around 200/300 yards of the main land cod/Pollock . if you go to the pu on the site and ask peter the bar manager he give you sum info hope this helps

Thanks for the advice. As it happens I ended up not getting the boat out but I will be going back again.
