This i have a few questions thyat may sound silly to the old boat owner hands....

Do you require a licence to operate a VHF boat radio? if so how much and where from?

I take it you have to reqister witht he port of tyne, if so any fees?

Also, prob a good question for you Bob....where can you get the boat names printed and how much you looking at for a standard size name? See you got Tri-Tek on yours.

port of tyne licence/registration comes free with mooring fees at the RQ/st Pete's, other wise was about 35 quid a year last time I looked

Just about any vehicle signage company will do you an adhesive name and logo based on just about anything you can dream up ...or will design one for you. (at a cost)

They are not hard to fit so dont pay for installation.

they do all the vinyl graphics for komatsu among others, in fact vinyl graphics for vehicles/plant etc is all they do!

Arvor 18, i was going to wait for next year but went for it so that i can fit the last 6 weeks of the season in and so on.

Not signed and sealed yet mind, waiting for the servay report to drop on my door step then if that is ok i will go ahead, just paid 10% depos and that is returanable if the servay shows up anything major. I cant see it doing so as the boat has is in great condition and been sitting in a mariner most of its short life.

Struggling with the radio bit...what is a "opperators ticket" how do i get one and is the next step doing teh course?

Xan the course be done all online, if so do they send something out at the end of it?

Really dont have a clue regarding this bit.

i did mine at south tyneside marine college, its an absolute doddle one day course, however you could contact the RYA for details of other local courses, storrars on the coast road stock VHF learning books which tell you the correct proceedures etc, very handy to read before you do your course

I was under the impression that you could just apply online and complete a course, then if passed they would send out the info.

Got so much to sort out in such a short period of time

The list...sort lift out, sort transport, sort lift in, confirm and pay birth, sort loan, pay for boat, week of tlc, buy bits and bobs, sort radio, sort port of Tyne sticker out, dont crash into lock gates first time out, put 371 wrecks into gps lol, give it a bash.
