  • Amble Harbout Mouth Sunday 13July08

Went to check the state of the harbour mouth and snapped these pics !
The Arvour 25 that was almost vertical was most impressive but I didn't have time to snap it. I wish I'd had a camcorder !

i was suppose to be out from amble this morning. we had a look at the piers first and weren't happy with what we seen. our boat is only 16ft and we weren't going to chance it! so went home got the spinning rods and beachcasters and tried roker pier, caught nowt!

          The Arvour

Thought I'd snapped the Arvour! I think this snap was just before the Arvour went vertical. It does show the conditions in the mouth a bit better. Between the rollers the water looked fairly benign and several boats sailed out oblivious to the conditions in the entrance, just missing the tricky bits.

We arrived at half four and had a steam down to the mouth, it didn't look too bad from the marina but when we got to the mouth it was a def no go for us, I was back home in bed for five past six!

yup, it runs right down to the harbour mouth, but is very exposed to the sea at the end.

couple of anglers got washd off there a few years back and had to be rescued by the rnli, long story, but that event led in part to all the fundraising nesa have done for the rnli

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

Was on roker pier yesterday. Watching a lot of boats go out then turn round and come straight back in again. From 7.30 till about 1 and caught nowt. Still it was good watching them boats just to asee who had the nerve to chance it.
