i remember when on the Hms Invincible we had to hide behind an island off scotland as we had waves breaking down the flightdeck and that was over 60ft above the water to put it in perspective the carrier in this picture the deck would be 100ft above sea level.
problem is that sometimes when the carriers are at full capacity they can not get below decks and when the ship starts to heave and yaw they put restrictions on movements of aircraft as they would not be teathered. on a frigate you can move them into the hanger by using wire and strops etc to keep them teathered but realy should be in bed before the weather comes.
