All too quickly our holiday, that seemed to take ages to organise, is over in the blink of an eye. As you know the first two charters were difficult, but fortunately we kept the best 'til last and we finished on a fantastic high! What a brilliant day we had fishing on the hard ground off Blyth and Newbiggin, sometimes in only 30ft of water. Allan on JFK2 certainly put us on the fish and most on the boat caught a decent amount of fish, of course the magic shads helped us enormously!
Our fist time in Whitley Bay and we really loved the area, very beautiful scenery close by and Tynemouth Village is a real gem.
Non fishing highlights were eating out/drinking - Waterside Arms- Seaton Sluice, good simple fayre, Ora-Tynemouth, great tapas, Nora Jeans-Tynemouth, fabulous decor and furnishings and Lynn particularly like the "Skye Mary" a take on a Bloody Mary but with 12 yr old Talisker single malt. Not cheap mind, at £7.95! Artisan bakers in Whitley Bay and finally the wholesale butcher, Prime cut in Seaton Delaval. Amazing prices and quality meat, we had rib eye steaks for tea last night, so lovely.
Of course our trip would not have been as successful as it was without all the help and advice from the NESA community. It is just great that so many guys on here are willing to help out. So thank you to all and especially Norman, Davey, Duncan, Steve, Jim, KeithB, Norbert and Karl. I hope you haven't missed anyone out.
Unfortunately work will prevent us from coming in October and I think that Easter is really not the best time for boat fishing, as we have had so many rotten trips, so probably it will be next summer before we are back I'm sorry to say. We intend though to make it two full weeks next summer for sure.
We are looking at a couple of boat trips out of Eyemouth to keep us going, first one next month. However reality is setting in as we have the first of our musical theatre summer schools, starting on Monday and we have done absolutely no prep work whatsoever, so that is today and tomorrow's task, plus unpacking and washing clothes and sorting out tackle box!! It's going to be busy!
Once again a huge thank you to the NESA community and all who helped us out. We make new friends each year and it is a pleasure to get to know you all.
All the best lads............................... from Mark and Lynn
