Well went out from Newbiggin about 10.40 in a s/w west breeze by myself after alerting the coastguard on the CG66 scheme of my float plan.
The beach is a right tw*t to launch from as all the sand is new and very soft. a 4w drive car went on to launch first as i was talking to a newbigging club member and got stuck about half way down having to be pulled out by tractor. This club member was very helpfull and between us we got the yak to the waters edge onto the firm ground. he pointed me to some good fishing grounds as he is a small boat angler himself. It was only my second drop when i got into my first yak caught fish around the 3lb mark . throughout the 3 hours or so that i was out I caught about 12 to 15 codling but only kept 4 around the 2-2.5lb mark. all the fish were caught about .5 mile off the beacons area. The paddle back was a bit of a slog against the sea breeze But Hey i need the exercise  When i arrived back at newbiggin bay the the tide was right out and the sand even softer, But some inquisitive lovely people looking at the yak helped me push it up the sand  So all in all i had a great day but could defo do with going out with a group of local lads to help in situations like these. I will be going out every weekend i can (weather permitting) and some evenings so anyone fancy it send me a PM. The evenings will be local tynemouth to cambois, the weekend i am prepared to travel to new places.
