    Meant to ask for advice on best place to purchase a map/chart of local area (sea !!!) not roads

    I'm not your best person to answer this by a long way lol but, try doing a search from the top of the page where it says search. Just type in charts and you will get a load of good info.

    I'm sure you will get a few more replies on here from the boat lads too though

      I Guess you're after paper charts??

      2 choices Imray or Admiralty. Storrars on the coast road keep all the local charts

      I personally prefer the Admiralty charts to Imray, think they look nicer and are a bit more detailed

      but bit big to take on a small boat (we only bought Pansy to accommodate my chart fetish)

      easy answer is to photocopy them in bits and then laminate them

        Mark`s already said it all. I got an admiralty chart of the area somewhere on board but always work off a home made (CAD) chart (laminated lol )with all the local marks on by number, this is used in conjunction with Garmin chart plotter which has all the same numbers plugged in with co-ords.
