  • Launch sites.

    Hi Guys,
I had my maiden voyage in my inflatable today, launching in a place called Claxheugh on the River Wear. It went really well, and I am hoping to get it out fishing next weekend.
I was wondering if any of you knew of any launching spots for me around Sunderland?
I know of the slipway by the marina, but think you need a yearly pass and want to avoid this. I don't need much of a slipway as it is very easy to launch. There is a slipway on Hendon Promenade which I was going to use, but I am a little worried about leaving my van there for a couple of hours.
Does anyone know of any other lauch sites? They don't even need to be slipways as I have removable wheels on my transom, and I am more than happy to use little used ones.

    Cheers in advance,
    Geoff

don't think I'd be happy leaving anything unattended on hendon prom!

you thought about the beach at cullercoats?? dead easy ramp down onto the beach, safe and sheltered. other side of the tyne, but might be your best bet

have a search on http://www.boatlaunch.co.uk as well if you've not already

Thanks for the site Mark, its great. I've just been having a look, but it only seems to know ones I already know of nearby.
It's a shame about Hendon promenade, as it is only two minutes from my house and there is good ground, and even some wrecks close in.
There is a place in Whitburn aswell, but there is a boat compound there, so I assume that is only for members?
