    If we didn't have the couple of drops we worked out we would have ran out of juice right in the dodgiest bit off the Tyne (assuming we ran out of juice at all)

          Mark mentioned something about blowback on sea toilets ages ago when we were talking about Avogadro's principle and the best way to shoot rabbits.

          Pansy's current toilet chews ya poo and blahs it out a hole.


          Yes you guessed correctly - we had intermittent toilet blowback episodes (Kept you on yout toes - literally)


          Luckily something told me to raise up before hitting the button on one memorable occasion. Glad I did otherwise it would have ended right back where it started from. Only happened in heavy weather - which is obviously the time when you are more likely to be bricking it.

              aye hell of a jury rig that one, think even the coastguard was a bit impressed, they kept in touch with us every 2 hours all the way and I think were a bit amazed we did it in one shoot running on that, although they did seem tot hink we were the 'yacht pansy yacht pansy' a few times till we put them right, but were also keen to know where we got the name from

              she's got spirit the old girl. when the steering problems first manifested themselves, and a run to port was in order, the nearest safe haven was her original home, a very tight little harbour at whitehills (Whitehills Harbour in Scotland, United Kingdom. Buy high quality framed images, prints, t-shirts. Up to date marine weather, services information, and photos) she went in there like she was on auto pilot and even gave us a couple of dolphins riding the bow wave for a brief while.

              for me that was the crucial descision of the whole trip. If we hadn't gone in there we would of hit the monster seas off rattray in the middle of the night when the steering failed totally

              still waiting for my world to stop wobbling...


              anyone got a hydraulic pump they don't need?

                Funny you should say that Mark pretty sure Bert still has the pump that was fitted to Shady (Danfoss OSPB 160 ON), it was a bit of beast for the size of Shady.

                  you all done amazing, saw her today and can't believe you went 27 hours non stop.
                  worse ever trip for me was amble to the tyne on one engine in a twinscrew boat steering on the tiller in a force 8 easterly at 16 years old. even that only took 8 hours

                  you should be very proud

                    so many incidents to include we'll probably forget many for a while. There was the yacht crispins toilet dilemma, the setting fire to the posh seating, gassing the sea scouts, backfiring toilet, bilge pump failures, PC's being wimps, mac's being well hard, stick obsession, every man for themselves, engine room hatch with murderous intent, losing the bath, polishing the lemon, fighting in the pub, hokkai removal from my arse, 'Ells kitchen, and possibly subconcious desire to live in a small dark smelly hole.......


                    Could take a while to get out of our system this one

                      as as been said by every one else welcome home, sorry i could'nt make the st peters to welcome you back, as i had a few things to do, am still laughing at pansies chief petty officer elliot phone call yesterday...called up this morning to see the boat sitting in her new home, one hell of a journey by 3 great guys and a pansie, will look forward to the grand tour soon

                        Cheers Bob,

                        Here's a couple more pics from the voyage, I've just stopped wobbling and my eyes are now working properly, since about lunchtime.

                        Mark's Black Hole where he could be found for probably the best part of the first two days, we let him up now and again, mostly when we broke something else or when we didn't know what course we on and needed help.... sometimes for bovril as well.





                        Ell could normally be found here in his own little hole, if he wasn't polishing his worktops or his lemons it was his kettle for bovril.

                        This was later renamed as 'Ells Kitchen' now it needs a plaque made with little horns and stuff now.



                        This one is our supper just before we left on the first night.



                        Pansy might not be able to match Slinky Kate on speed but her drinks cabinet makes up for it........

                        Breakfast, mmmmm



                        And the stick, well I'll leave one of them two to explain that.



                        We did have a visitor half way across the Forth of Firth as I renamed it, a little feathered friend that got lost heading North, possibly from Africa and absolutly knackered. We ended up bringing him back to the Tyne which he probably wasn't to pleased about when he woke up.



                        And just waiting at one of the locks again, Notice 'the stick'



                        Sort some more out soon.

                              Yes about the last pic there ....Ell looks like he's sizing up a nice plump whale while Mark is having an obvious Noel Coward moment .... sorry lads didn't mean it HONEST ,I've heard how hardy you lot are like
