I am hoping to get out on a boat soon. As Amble is my nearest harbour can anyone recommend a decent boat and skipper. I have done a fair amount of charter boat fishing down South, mainly out of Dover and Ramsgate where it is mostly clean ground fishing. I have heard that it is mostly drift fishing over rough ground around here and any advice about rods, reels etc would be greatly appreciated.

Upholder is a fine boat (offshore 105) and skipper Dave Builith is a experienced guy, he was instrumental in the setting up of the NESA Boat comps back a few years now, no probs highly recommended. give him a call and he`ll keep you right on gear and baits required.
ps the area Dave fishes (I used to sail from Ambe marina myself) is the best water in the north east, clear water with fantastic views and landscapes.........
I prefer the roughness of the tyne wrecks and cloudy water myself but there again its everyone to their own.
cheers
enjoy
(and report back with the catch )

The Upholder is the boat I fish off, and have been doing so for the past few years. As the others have said earlier in the thread, top boat, top skipper for the inshore drift fishing at Amble. Dave has his own website at www.ambleboatcharter.com. If you want any details on the fishing, drop me a pm. Won't bore the rest of the site.

I would reccomend the "Warlord", but then again jeff is my dad so im a little biased.
But seriously though an update on the amble boats, The "Warlord" has been replaced by a new bigger model capable of carrying 12 this time. The "Solitaire" was sold by Kevin and i believe the new owner intends to run her from royal quays. The "Silver Scales" is out of action and has been for some time now.
The 3 remaining boats are "Upholder" the new "Warlord" and the "Sea Hunter"
