cheaper down south !!!!!

As i have allready said, i am looking for another boat, but have noticed that boats down south are a lot cheaper than up here, if you check the prices for a boat up here, the same boat and spec are normally 10-15 % cheaper down south...i can only presume that thats because there are a lot more of them down there, and buyers can find a better bargain, although there are a few up here prices are higher.
With the type of boat i am looking for ( approx 20ft ), i can go down and collect it on a trailer and save myself at least £1500, also they seem to have better electronics included with the boat.
When i bought my previous boat sasha a 28 foot merry fisher 805, there were none for sale anywhere in the north, she came from the solent and was brought up by lorry which cost £750 plus VAT which i didnt think was to bad for delivery.

Whats been your experience when you bought your boat ?? did you get it locally ?? did you find the prices cheaper down south

I didnt really have a chioce when I decided on ocqueteau at the time bob, as there weren`t many around anyway so I decided on new (from essex), luckily the delivery was free (or already included somewhere), never looked back.

probably a bit late, from you're other post (we've been pansying today!), but have to agree, If you can make the trek down there, there are some real bargains to be had

bought 2 boats from portsmouth area, much cheaper than up here, an I guess its down to simple economics of supply and demand. Every boat on the tyne and the wear would fill a tiny corner of the moorings and marinas on Hayling island where I got mine, every direction you look in their is a marina and moorings, add to that all the other areas of the solent, poole, pompey and the like an theres 10's of thousands probably along the south coast

o0nly sown side with the last one was the trailer was ****e, snaked all over the place at anything over 35mph

portsmouth to here at 35mph was a very very long way
