Dont know wether they are fishing or not but have you tried hartlepool or the Tyne for your fishing trips the fishing is the same if not better for the boats and it will cost you about £25 pounds instead of 38-50 as the whitby boats charge.

I fished out of Hartlepool last weekend (in reports) on Flamer II (£25) and had a great time. I\'m booked on again next wednesday and hoping for the same. Lost some cracking fish.

I usually go out of Whitby but the fishing from Hartlepool seems far better. We were only fishing the wrecks and rough ground about 2-3 miles of Saltburn as well. Came back with 25lb of gutted fish!

Unbelievably Macky it is quicker and cheaper for me to drive to Hartlepool from Barnsley than it is to drive to Whitby! Motorway all the way and no hills and twisting roads. I did a round trip last time with 2 other lads in the car and only used about £13 of diesel. It\'s £16 to whitby and back.

Agree with MikeR. I travel from Keighley, takes 2h plus to Brid, Scarbro\' or Whitby, about 1h20 -1h30 to Hartlepool (A1 A19), good roads esp at weekends or early mornings. Real bonus comes when going home as you\'re not travelling with all the seaside daytrippers clogging the roads. When I was looking for somewhere to keep a boat, Hartlepool won hands down as soon as I realised how easy it was to get there. Marina facilities are also excellent. Also, the fishing appears so far to be pretty reliable, as it wasn\'t further south.

I\'d think it would be just as easy from Hull - M62 to A1 and Bob\'s your uncle.
