  • Cheap Pirks

Well, we all know how many pirks we can go through on a days wrecking - well, me personally I go through loads of the bleeders !
I don\'t really mind losing them, as it is to be expected, but some can cost silly amounts of cash for a bit of lead.
Does anyone know where you can get cheap pirks ?
I would attempt to make some of my own, but would find lead hard to come by.

Either Ray or Allan on Andy\'s site, is selling 12oz pirks for £1.20 dunno if that includes the treble etc.

or these look canny value, especially if the seller will let you collect

Kenny, the two guys from Doncaster were telling me they had ordered from a dirt cheap place in germany. Can\'t remember what it was called though. I\'m sure they said they were about £1.20 each, plus they did loads of other boat gear (rods etc). Might be worth getting intouch (and then reminding me what the company is called!).

buy a norwegian pirk mould £15-£20 use old bicycle spokes for the wires ,use a white base coat for first coat then paint with your own favorate flurescent colours.to lose less jiggers you should use 1 large quality hook 7/0 8/0 ,

the yeloow adtrader paper. SOmeone advertises in there, 12oz boat leads 40p and 16oz norwegian lead pirks 80p.

best bet tho, as fredsfish syuggestss spend some money on a mould. soon pays for itself. wire coat hangers work well for the wires. Also, look out for chrome piping. I bought 2 foot length for 4 quid in B&Q, cout it down, hammer one end flat and fill with lead for shiny pirks. Better still keep your eyes on the skips, it not hard to see bits of it!

Getting hold of the lead would be a problem for me though - looked into it once before, where as I can get little scraps of it, a decent supply would be harder to find.

not that difficult. there was a post on here a while back about it. there\'s a few scrap men around who sell lead by the stone, north shields in particular there\'s on eif I remember rightly, (maybe some kind sould will re-post the info)

alternatively, find a freindly roofer, wave a few pints at them and ask them to save all their off cuts of lead flashing and such like. The one I get lead from initially used to say \"give me the same as the scrap man\" now hre just gives me the stuff by the stone!

For a great deal on pirks, email Dave on DaveMor2@aol.com he\'s sold me some at £1 each powder coated or 70p plain lead.

He\'s clearing out, so it\'s a case of when it\'s gone it\'s gone!

He does nice ORANGE ones (no cod attached) as well TC - lol
