oh no its happened, but there is an upcoming vacancy for an extra crew member, to assist on her maiden voyage, a non stop, 72 hours cruise, taking in the finer parts of key shipping lanes, and oil exploration facilities in the north sea, suitable applicants need good sealegs, the ability to sleep upside down whilst taking the helm through hazardous waters, and be able to make tea. the clinically insane and generally barking mad adventurous type may get preference

en-suite facilities may not be to everyones tastes

the chief petty officer can be vigilant though

and his semaphore is coming along nicely

Hi Mark, yes thought so I was Thro a couple of years ago delivering a yacht from Hartlepool to Kirkcudbright it was a pitstop delivery but the caledonian canal is a great place just wish I could have spent more time there.
You can spend a good couple of weeks in the canel, makes a good holiday retreat for the family and safe waters for the kids.
Mine before and after its not the case, you don't want a norwestley(strong) when leaving clockwise about and heading south.
All the best on you sail down enjoy.

aye, 'tis a dilemma to be sure, leave it there for a few months as its all paid up, BWB licence etc and have a mooch up and down the canal and use it as a base for a bit salmon fishing (after a 6 hour drive!).....

or get it back here asap, then bend over and drop you pants whilst you get the bill for mooring fees inserted

not particularly looking forward to the trip out the canal and down the moray firth though, done it once, navigational nightmare if you get it wrong, had night mares about that bit outside the kessock bridge for months. We've got a secret weapon though (hopefully)

I think I know what you mean mate, doesn't matter which way either leaving or arriving, the channel giveway, green n red and what bothered me at the time was mast hight under bridge.
She had quite a tall rig on her, working out hight of tide, depth of water, hight below bridge and right of way all at the same time was most enjoyable at the time.
Was Pansys home port Banf ?.

fished whitehills till early 70's then went down to hartlepool till about 1980 when she was decomissioned

been looking at tides online just now actually trying to pick a day when we can exit the canal at around high tide, so catch the ebb with reasonable a amount of water and be daylight as well, so preferably about 6 in the morning, which should mean only 1 full night at sea, oh yeah and flat calm as well!

                  doesn't look promising
