27th June TO 17TH July Whitby Charter Skippers Festival
Our Whitby Charter Skippers Summer fishing festival runs from 27/6/08 until 17/7/08, a 3 week event. Thanks to increased sponsorship there is a 1st. prize of £5000 cash for the heaviest fish caught, £2000 for 2nd. £1000 for 3rd. and £500 4th. in addition to the daily cash prizes and section prizes which includes a junior section for under 16's.With a total in excess of £10,000 in prize money plus tackle prizes this should make it the best funded sea angling competition in the U.K.
Hows will this work do you just pay for a trip out of whitby on any charter boat between those dates, and if you get a big fish it gets entered in free.
Also can you go as many times you want betwwen them dates.
Or do you register for the event and pay a fee as well as the charter boat fee.
And will it be certain boats or any boats.

Thx for any info in advance.

i think it works out like this
heaviest fish over the period will take the top prize of £5000
there is a daily cash prize for heaviest fish caught also
to enter you must fish from a charter boat from whitby
    i think
not 100% sure but im sure some one on here will know

last year we paid £40 for the charter (depending on the boat you are on ) , and £3 for the festival.
all charter boats from whitby are in it more or less.
you can go as many times as you can afford it !

        Micks correct.

You take the trip out on your chosen boat and pay the agreed fee.

There is then an optional entry to the comp to be included in a chance of winning a prize.

You pay your money and take your chance. I remember one guy who caught a large turbot ( I think) but did not enter the comp. That cost him dearly.

        Cheers

Its amazing what length some blokes will go to to save a couple of quid. Last time out on Maggie May Hartlepool had a smilar compo. Think it cost two quid to enter on top of the boat fee and we had a biggest fish on the boat sweep for a quid.
I landed a 4 lb ling and went halves with another lad. One or two old boys on the boat did not enter either.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.
