  • Backing braid with Mono

I\'ve just picked up some new Dynon 3000 from Billys and hes said it will be best to back the reel up with mono first to stop it bedding in.

Whats the best knot to tie the mono to the reel first, then join the braid to the mono.

Links to diagrams for the knots would be most helpful also

    I know I don\'t ask alot

    Cheers

The March edition of Sea Tangler has 2 alternatives, both on the same page - the Albright knot or half-hitch/blood knot combination.

Peter Owen\'s \"Pocket Guide to Fishing Knots\" also recommends the Albright knot and describes it rather better.

I can\'t give you a link, but possibly searching on \"Albright knot\" via Google or similar will get you a diagram.

Just read your post properly Marc......I use two grinners for the braid to mono.

For the mono to spool all I use is a half blood knot

As my dad used to say....Man who go to bed with itchy bum......wake up with stinky finger!!!

This is what i use all the time for braid to nylon (backing and leaders).

Go to tips then knots the one at the bottom is called braid to nylon. Looks hard but is simple.
