Any body done any fishing in or around the firth of forth?

I'm planning a little trip up the coast in july to Eyemouth, Anstruther and possibly Rosyth or Port Edgar and was just wondering what the fishing (especially wrecking) was like on the east coast of Scotland.

As a resident in Fife, I do most all my fishing out of Amble. Reason is, that there are virtually no boats for charter in Fife. I believe there is still one out of Anstruther, but it didn't take single anglers last time I enquired a few years ago. As for wreck fishing, I don't think they would know what one looked like up here. Any boats up here do general ground fishing on the drift. The nearest other ports that do charters close (?) to the Forth, are probably Dunbar to the south, and Arbroath to the north. But again you have the problems of getting on as a single angler. Your only other option is maybe to have an ask around the local anglers, if you're in the area for a few days, and see if anyone would take you out, but that would be a long shot. Sorry I can't be any more help.

Your own boat didn't even occur to me. I assumed you were of the female gender or maybe wanted to be one. I don't know if you have a gps unit fitted or not, but if you like, I can pm you a list of some wreck co-ords. They are mostly around the Isle of May at the mouth of the Forth estuary, a few miles off. The weather up here can change pretty quickly, so if you go out to the May, make sure you have a settled forecast. I've never heard of anyone boat fishing up at the Bridges (Port Edgar), but you never know. As I said in previous mail, most guys do inshore drifting on the rough ground for codling. This is usually from Elie round to St. Andrews, anything from a couple of hundred yards to a mile or so off. Don't know too much about the Edinburgh side of the Forth.

Thanks for the info scottyjim, i should have specified that i was going by boat.
my chartplotter does cover this area and has a lot of wrecks around the isle of may, whether they are there or not is another matter.
