  • Preserving rag and lug.

I was spending some time watching Totally Awsome Fishing and endend up looking at way to preserving lug and rag.

This method shows it being salted.

    Salting Lugworm

    Anyone know if it works?

Its a good way to preserve them, I saw this years ago & tried it with success but disagree with the time to leave in the Salt.
Never mind 5 days, 3 days I found was too long, with the Worms being too dried out. 2 Days seemed about right. Trial & error depending on Worm size.

Important to seal the container from the outside air as the Salt draws the moisture from that too & leaves a pool of water on top. More so in Winter.

And as for drying out the Salt & reusing, you would have to use a Pan on the stove as laying out somewhere dry don't work as its continually drawing moisture from the Air.
As for the effectiveness of the Bait once preserved, its very good for Dabs & Flounder in Summer but that's all I used it for.
Have to also disagree with the statement that you can only keep Lug a few days. Looked after well in the Fridge it will keep for weeks.

      Good comment, thank you.

I will be giving it a try. I threw a lot of worm away last season due to the weather.
It's got to be worth a try.
