There seem to be more and more about over the last few years Welly. Most are taken on standard Cod type rigs almost by accident. Basically jigged lures / pirks baited or otherwise whilst fishing over wrecks. Last year plenty 2-3 pounders and some bigger ones, some with lures actually already in their mouths I don\'t know wether using traditional pollack techniques (Redgill type fishing ?) would get you more. Rich for one will probably give you some info when he sees the post.
Ignore it though the boy\'s clueless

Welly,
We caught Pollock last year from wrecks almost by accident. When we had a break off with lead or Pirk and we knew we still have lures on the line we tend to leave them down until we are over the wreck. All our Pollock last year were caught like this.
We do intend to use Red-gills etc... this year and fish for them for real!!
Thanks,
Jeff.

Welly, those that have intended to catch pollock off wrecks have used long flowing traces, anything over six foot, and have had some quite good results, obviously you will have to find the wrecks that hold pollock, not all do. As not all hold cod and some are mainly ling wrecks.Alan

Most of the pollack we caught the last couple of seasons (and they are becoming more regular) was to flashers above the pirks (you know the ones like mackeral flashers but with size 5/0 or 6/0 hooks.]` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` )

Welly , by coincidence I had six small ones from the same wreck on saturday . We don\'t get many as a rule but we had some very big ones last year , as Ell said there\'s more and more every year .
Might be better not to target them though and see what turns up in general .

I have caught them on the same as Norman but with 3/0 hooks the little Mackeral lures with the luminous bead, I find these great as a general all round lure for all types of fish.

welly,
if you are fishing on the rough ground inshore you could do worse than fish a ragworm hooked just through the head on a 6 foot trace slow retrieve, use as light a lead as you can get away with and wind up at about 1/2 the speed or less you would a redgill, don\'t strike until the fish has pulled the rodtip right over, even then, lift into the fish, not strike
sometimes the slower the retrieve the better
