  • Launch & Retreive options

After 20 years out, I'm re-joining the boating fraternity. (Hopefully collecting a little 15 footer within the next couple of days)

I'm looking for advice on launch and storage options in the Amble - Seaton sluice area.

I know of the public launch facility at Newbiggin, but in the absence of a 4WD vehicle, does this mean having to pull the boat over the soft sand manually or is the sand fairly well compacted here?

I also know of the slip at Seaton Sluice. How do you go about acquiring a permit for this? I also believe that it is tidal restricted. At what stage of the tides is it accessible?

Any other options in the area would be welcomed.

As far as storage goes, I've got quotes back from Blyth and Ashington caravan storage at £250pa. Any other viable options? I'd like somewhere fairly secure.

Cheers and look forward to seeing some of you out.

blyth marina membership application is unfortunately now closed, a personally would stay well clear of seaton sluice, not only is it tydle, when you can get out, as soon as your through the breaker you need to hit head on quick, and coming in is even trickier.

am sure, but may be corrected, that there's a concrete slipway at newbiggin,

also av launched small boat's at blyth, where the golden fleece used to be.
    hope all that help's m8

Hi pal, we launch from cullercoats. Been from there a couple of years now and find it no bother at all, can launch at anytime really. We've used 2 wheel drives and as long as your on the hard sand for recovery it's fine. Just pull the boat out with a rope attached the trailer. Reasonable fees as well
