Exciting and nostalgic times in the Kayos household. We have booked 3 nights in Eyemouth Thurs -Sat, with a charter trip on Friday.
Eyemouth was the first place we had a boat charter in 2012. The boat broke down mid trip and we had to be towed in by a prawn trawler, but they towed us to the nearest port, which was Burnmouth. We had to alight the boat by a perpendicular ladder up the side of a high pier. Mark was panicking as he has a fear of heights and I had to go up the ladder behind him, holding him around the waist. It was hilarious! He was so scared he couldn't let his hands go at the top of the ladder and some nice trawlerman dragged him off the top of the ladder and onto the pier. We got a lift from the charter boat skipper's wife, who he called, and made it safely back to Eyemouth. We caught a few Mackerel, Pollock and Cod and had some for our tea at the Eyemouth Caravan Park, where we were staying for a week. We loved it and that was the start of our fishing exploits, which have taken us to Whitby, Hartlepool and Whitley Bay.
As you know Mark has had an injured back for almost a year now and is in constant pain, so we have not fished much. However Aquamarine run two charter vessels and both are really diving boats so have a wooden bench running along the middle section of the boat. Therefore we thought he could sit and fish, so we booked
Oceanic or Sagittarius, not sure which one yet, but we are hoping for Oceanic. Mark's friends were so impressed that four of them are joining us. They are staying Thursday night and driving home Friday, as the trip is 0900-1500. So six of us on a charter, should be fun.
I am photographer for the day, but that won't stop me from catching the most and biggest fish!
