Respect for your fight to get what the system owes you. And I'm not personally offended. I'm only highlighting that there are many sides to every debate. I have a Polish friend who employs 10 people locally..... all english. Never claimed a penny for anything since he arrived here years ago.

I also have a few sponging layabout friends who have never done a days work and probably never will. You guessed it.... All local.

Wide brushes tar people who don't deserve tarring.

Sorry to hear you have been out of work mate. I was too for some months a few years ago and know exactly what it is like trying to get the pittance of a benefit available, currently a paltry £72.50.

However to imagine that foreigners somehow get benefits easier than British people is just a fallacy. This Government try to demonise out of work people as "lazy scroungers" and we should all be fighting against these outrageous smear tactics and not jump on the bandwagon and try to demonise Europeans in the same way.

A single person who like me had worked 27 years straight since leaving school gets £72.50 a week. They get housing benefit for a rented flat/house, but only the interest paid for if they have a mortgage. No other money is available to them so God knows who would choose to live like that. Successive Governments peddle the myth that the unemployed are shysters, if we fall for that myth we unfairly demonise the poor.

Anyway, good on the Skipper for trying to drum up business and apologies to him that I and others seem to have gone off topic.

What, it's easy to use the Google translator, yee gods where have we come to? I'm fairly certain the NESA forum will go into a downward spiral if the membership have to adopt the google translator. We in the UK speak mainly English, not Polish, Lebanese, Rumanian, Latvian or any other language. I certainly do not see that it's better to start communicating in their language because if they really want to become part of our society - learn the language.

I have no problem with foreigners coming to the UK, however that is on the understanding that they have work and pay the taxes etc, can speak, read and understand English.

i have many Polish friends who worked on a Power plant project in the UK, all could speak and read, excellent tradesmen and very good workers. working away from home as many of us do and have to.

what does me in, is that for years, the government has watched illegal people coming through the channel tunnel, coming in by airports and ferries and the likes, cannot speak, read or understand our lingo and are allowed to stay !!!!!

fcuk it I'm going down the boat...........

Illegal immigrants are another story altogether Paul and I agree with you. One point though, you seem to work abroad a lot, I think I saw some posts regarding you in Turkey. Can you speak, read and understand Turkish? Us Brits are the worst country in Europe for learning a second language, bottom of the league in fact, yet we still work in Europe, the middle East etc with no idea of the language. Why should we expect foreigners that come here read, write and understand English when we do not expect ourselves to learn the language of where we work abroad?

I just knew you would be a polyglot Paul, I'm impressed! Most of the foreigners who come here do not intend to live here full time. They come here for a better standard of living, but will go home eventually. I have a friend who has worked in the UAE for 15 years, coming home 4 times a year. Has no clue of the language even after all that time. I think that is replicated by us Brits all over the world, so I think it is a bit ironic for us to demand foreigners coming here should be fluent.

sorry, but anyone staying in the UK needs to have the lot. there are more and more cuts to authorities, our standard of living and cost of living has nose dived and will not get better. illegal immigrants are a part of the equation of why

UAE (Dubai) is english speaking, any arabic or asian spoken is mainly by foreigners and native to native. i have a place in Dubai and have never had to speak in any other language than english....oh i miss that sun

Well let's agree to differ Paul. In my opinion if we work abroad and don't speak the language we shouldn't expect people coming here to be any different. I know the UAE and many other middle eastern countries have a English due to the Brits ruling those countries for decades, but their national language is still Arabic. As you say Arabic is spoken by native to native, well it is their country after all, just because we can happily get by in other countries without speaking the language, doesn't mean we should be held to a different standard to what we expect from those who come here. I'm sure foreigners who come here feel they can get by with little English.

Britain has many problems and they no doubt will get worse with the opening up of the European Union, more foreigners will come here. That is way it is and I don't necessarily agree with it.

kayos m8, go to your local job center, tel them your british , left school and worked all your life, paid your tax and stamp.
tell them you have carpal tunnel syndrome, vibration white finger, massive nerve damage and bowel cancer.
see how long it take's you 2 get sorted, when all the foreigner's around you are getting hand out's left right and centre.

I worked for a company a few year ago and the boss employed loads of polish. They were the most arrogant obnosxious people to work alongside. They would mess up the workshop leave pop bottles of pi"" everywhere. They would play the old trick I speak no English, hell they wouldn't even listen to their own translator. Imagine 63 of them and only 12-15 English how do you compete with that?. Half of them were farmers and the polish mafia so I was told lol not 1 qualified joiner plumber boarder .

Because they were to lazy to go to the plumbed in toilets downstairs. Wouldn't mind but they would never tidy the bottles up at end of day. Oh yes and guess what they done when the bottles ran out!!!!!:O:O;-)
