The sea does not discriminate you can only be as prepared as much as you can. These guys obviously would have known what the sea was all about.
RIP such a tragedy.
give a man a fish and feed him for a day - teach the man to fish and feed him for life!!!!
Yes Dave I was gutted to hear about that today also. The worst about it was I had just received a letter this morning from the RNLI asking me to contribute and while I was reading it it came up on the news. My condolences and thoughts go out to there families.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.
It\'s hard to find something to say when such tragedies occur.
I know, as Norman says, we all feel for the families & friends of both Keith Allday (coxwain and harbourmaster), and Alan Massey (RNLI helmsman and harbourmasters\' assistant).
Just goes to show that the sea has no respect for those who venture upon it, no matter how experienced they may be.
Sad to read also, that Mr Allday was going to be retiring shortly - which, no doubt, would have been a relief to his loved ones.

Lord God, Creator of land and sea,
bless those who work at sea.
Be with them in fair weather and foul, in danger or distress.
Strengthen them when weary, lift them up when down and comfort them when far from their loved ones.
In this life, bring them safely to shore and, in the life to come, welcome them to your kingdom.
Amen.
An appeal fund has been set up for the families of both, Keith Allday and Alan Massey - see:

Aside from what has been recieved for entries into the NESA boat comp in aid of Cullercoats RNLI Station on 31st May, I know there was some residual money in the NESA / RNLI account. Along with the £40 I\'ve managed to collect from \"loose change\" lying around the house (which I was gonna donate to the boat comp fund raising) it would be appropriate to donate that \"residue\" to the Barmouth Appeal - don\'t you think ?
If everybody\'s happy to go along with that, let me know and I\'ll set the wheels in motion to get the money donated to the appeal ASAP.
DON\'T forget to appologise to Yvonne for me wakin\' her up at quarter to 3:00, m8. I REALLY am sorry about that - but when I\'m on NESA (especially with the company of a certain \"Captain Morgan\")....lol, I loose all sense of time.
great idea tc - i know that money will not replace but it will ease life for those left(put 20 quid in an RNLI tin yesterday as did not know about the fund).
I find it quite upsetting that these guys risked life and limb to save others on a VOLUNTARY basis and that they lost their own lives during a pleasure trip.
RIP Guys and a big thanks from my heart for all that you and your fellow RNLI people do for others from an EX-seafarer.
