I have to say that the skipper is the main person we all rely on. But then again why does one person catch more than others?

I can not understand why anglers when seeing one person hammering on one method will continue using what they have on the end of the string.

Recently I went out with 4 people on a charter boat. Three oldies and a young un...also a film crew on board so the pressure was on for the skipper. We fished in a normal way for here in the NE...ripers, daylights etc over rough ground. But the young un fished crab and squid cocktail on some of the best tackle and end rigs money can buy.

He absolutely wiped the floor with the rest of us catching three fish to our one. So theres a lot of old experience being showed how to do it by someone who is prepared to experiment and go against the norm.

IMHO the most important thing is to be prepared to try different things other than what you have been doing for 20 years....and also a good skipper helps.

    Cheers
    Dave.
