Out of intrest what is the going rate for a Lobster if you sold it?
The charter boat up craster pulls its pots in at the end of the fishing trip and always has alot of massive crabs and jet black Lobsters in its pots that get put into a hold all with a little water and damp rag over the top.................__................................ .............................

officially you're not allowed to sell them
'hypothetically', if you were to sell one, between a fiver and a tenner each to restaurants depending on sizeʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.

you can stick em anywhere you want, pretty sure the limit on lobster is 2 per day ( any with notches in the tails must be returned ) Brown crab 6 pr day.
least thats what my mates that fish commercially on the west coast of scotland tell me. they are pretty laid back and happy to advise up there as to good marks for pots, heard a few stories from this coast though of commercial boats removing private potsʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.

How many pots and what licenses .
As of June the first it depends where you fish. North of the tyne the nsfc area nothing has changed.
South of the Tyne is a different matter as of the beginning of this month when a new bylaw was introduced. I am sure it was discussed elsewhere on this forum.
Have a look at this for accurate info on the new Bylaw and how it will affect you and your few pots.
This has a link to the bylaw and also a link to a license application form. YOU DO NOW NEED ONE IN THIS REGION>
I assume the "North east Gaurdian", the committees patrol vessel, will be busy this summer and they do have the powers to confiscate any incorrectly identified pots they find.

mine only ever get dropped in NW scotland.
Its like being in another world. The commercial boats are friendly - one has even lifted mine for me once, when we were due to come home, but it was too rough to get back out in my boat, and delivered them back, with contents and a few 'extras'. They've given me pot bait to try instead of my usual mackie/coalie mix (made a huge difference) and advised me wheres the best places to drop them. One in particular has even lent me extra pots for a week or 2
I've had some canny crack with the fisheries patrol officers in the Mishnish, who also have given me pointers as to good/bad spots, and the one time I've actually seen em out 'working' they were more interested in how I was doing fishing wise than what I was doing
I dare say the regulation is needed though - just look at all the 'mackeral' threads for the reasons. The more I see/hear/read about our stretch of coast, the less I like it. Just a small number of greedy feckwits **** on the bonfire for everyone elseʎɐqǝ uo pɹɐoqʎǝʞ ɐ ʎnq ı ǝɯıʇ ʇsɐן ǝɥʇ sı sıɥʇ.
