  • well lads the season has kicked off

had a trip down to saltburn in the boat on tuesday, the sea has finally started to clear, we had a steady run of codlings on baited hokkeyes. the tides were small so the drift was slow and also that helped the sea to clear. After reading about the whitby boats having great success with shads last year i have vowed to give them a shot this year, so towards the end of the day with the drift speeding up and the fish seeminly not feeding i thought id put one on for the last 20 mins, tied it on to a 8 foot trace and dropped down (not really expecting much) WOW, you gotta try them lads, straight into the fish again. no one was more shocked than me........... dont take my word for it try em

Nice one smoggie - do you launch at saltburn or you up coast somewhere. the lads i know have been staying closer to pool so may be worth them having a trip down.

hi Jason i moor my boat on the Tees at stockton, believe it or not,.....its a 2 1/4 hour run to saltburn for us (diesel inboard + displacement hull}... but the ground is tons better than hartlepool especially early and late in the year in fact all year round.... but where ever you fish TRY SHADS I had 4 fish in 4 drops {all within 1minute of hitting bottom} when the hokki,s and bait were doing nothing It scares me to think what i could have done if i had tried them earlier !!!
