  • Scarborough Reefs and wrecks

    Hi all,
Does any body have any gps positions of wrecks and reefs or other structures around the scarborough area? say within 5 miles.
I have 14ft boat now with a navman gps and a c-map card for that area but there is very little in the way of wrecks shown on it. there must be alot more out there!!!
thanks for any help! tight lines

Good luck mate and welcome to NESA.

Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

there's loads! don't just go by the wreck symbols on the charts, look also at the obstruction symbols as they are more often than not used to mark wreck sites also (small circles -dotted line)

will have a look and see whats on my lists though

      Thought for the day:
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything but bring a smile to your face when thrown down the stairs

Converting an MFV Fifie trawler type thing.

            Thanks for the welcome people.
excellent website and very interesting reading for all.
thanks mark for the dotted circle info, i didn't know that. in fact I'm very new to fishing full stop. after seeing bass (face to face) when snorkeling in Cornwall just last year, i had to get myself a rod! didn't catch 1 tho, lol.
looking back i didn't have a clue what i was doing. lol
            (i will this yr)

Wasn't long before i got my dad bang into sea fishing and then we got a boat.
So the learning curve has been steep but very enjoyable and with people like your selfs helping others, it makes it much easier and safer to learn the things that could take yrs of trial and error.
Thanks once again for making me most welcome and for any wreck sites.

BTW: if you want to see bass like that, just find a biggish rock pool on a beach as the tides coming in. 10 Min later or 5ft of water and they will be there! just float face down, try to pull yourself around the rocks, keep your eyes wide open, use the rocks to your advantage, and you will meet 1 or 3 Bass coming the other way! once they see you, they tend to slowly turn around and slowly move away. (you don't bother them that much)

Important: Use common sense. If its ruff stay away, Use caution and don't get slammed against the rocks its not worth it. It can KILL you. If you don't have common sense don't worry, when you get feel frightened thats the same thing. TIME TO GET OUT.
