  • Marina Mullet.

From what i've read, Mullet are supposed to be shy, but these 2 were right posers...

Any advice on how to catch them, the lads have been throwing them bread but they dont take it, it would be catch and release for a bit of fun...

Here is what i found mate BAITS
Top baits for mullet are bread flake both sub surface and fished floating on the surface, small bits of ragworm, mackerel flesh with the skin removed, cheese paste especially Dairy Lea, plus they can be weaned on to pasta, cat food, sausage meat, and pretty much any other food stuff for human consumption

You can also ground bait them using a small washing powder bag with fish flavour cat food, pilchard oil and bread

Ha, I remember a day on Blairmore Pier I spent hours ground baiting with bread and Tuna brine and watching the buggers swimming past my floated hook and happily eating everything but my baited hook!!

not shy just bloody hard to catch, they should take floating bread but chances are they will take 100 bits without a hook before they look at one with a hook in it, then they will probably take the bread right off the hook without you even feelig it

Get them feeding on floating bread, tie a piece of crust about 3" up the line from the hook and nip a small piece of white bread on the hook, nothing else on the line , lob it out amongst the bread they are feeding on and the hook bait looks like a bit of bread that has come away from the floating bits and is sinking , they'll take that a lot more freely than a chunk on the surface with a hook in it
