Hi everyone .... I previously fished with my dad until he was no longer to do so .... After 20 years of non fishing I spent Bank Holiday Monday aboard charter boat.... Once again I'm hooked ! ... I have trawled the site and would like to ask for opinions ... I'm not seasick so don't need any tablets for that ... The advice I need is relating to equipment ... A quick look on eBay etc rods from 20 to 400 quid also reels etc .... I don't want to break the bank or turn up with tat when I next go out .... Any suggestions ???? To braid or go mono ???

    Welcome to the forum.

    Braid for sure!

A good lever drag reel, I use a Shimano TLD15, you can pick them up second hand for about £50-60, about £90-£100 new.

A 20lb class rod should do you, all about personal choice but I like the Fladen Maxximus solid carbon rods.
    Cheers, Keith.

braid for sure but not everyone likes it or can get away with it

go to flash fishing tackle and get 100 metres of 49lb break strain for 7 quid

then if you find you can fish with it upgrade to summat better

best advice i can give remember theres tackle for catching fish and tacle for catching anglers

We just use the cheap chinese braid, about £8 for 300m on fleabay.

        Search for Dyneema.
