Had long weekend with the family up at Seahouses this weekend and today whilst at the RNLI fund raising day was watching a coble go out to the left of the harbour. About 30 feet from low tide shore line he shot a gill net of about 100-200 feet. You could see the white floats on the top. He left the net for a couple of hours then returned and stayed with it for another hour or so going up and down the inside of the net in the boat. It was hauled in a short while later. I was not present when this was done but am assuming it was for Bass or Salmon or Seatrout. The main fish I would think would be Bass as there is no river mouth at the harbour.????.

Wife took pic of lifeboat. U can see the white floats on net. Did not think would be good spot for Salmon or Sea trout. Mind net looks exactly the same as one by seaward side of South Shields and the guy in his boat does not leave it to long. Apparantly its in case a seal gets in and nicks the fish.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

Hello Mick,
The "Tumblers" are the rocks just to the North of Seahouses harbour mate. They stretch from Seahouses harbour along to the South end of Bamburgh Beach.
Here's a photo I took from the "Tumblers" one evening looking towards Bamburgh......you can just make out the castle in the distance.
Regards Ian
