  • Tackle Tickler friday 19th July

Forecast was light northeastly from 10am and increasing to 10mph by 1pm. An early start would have been best, but there wasnt enough water at the slip till 8.45am. Plan was to fish till the wind picked up then head in. So set off from Hartlepool 8.45am got passed the heugh and turned back, the sea was too big for my boat and the wind was far from being light. We stayed in the bay for an hour catching mackerel then headed back in, gutted to say the least.

Best to stay safe phil, no amount of fish are worth the risk, I got out a little before you at 7am and was back in and tied up by 11am as I felt it would have been silly to stay out in it really!! There will always be another day as frustrating as it is when the day before was a belter to be at sea!!!

Ye very true mate. We ended up using the Heugh as protection along with 2 other boats that oviously didnt fancy it neither. Well done on the cod by the way, good report and pics.
