Well, for the second year Hartlepool charter boats were asked to provide boats for the Stagecoach competition. They brought 60 anglers from all over the country including Plymouth, Glasgow and London. In fact all areas of the UK that Stagecoach operate, they had anglers from. The weather wasn't the best but we made the most of it.
The competition was very well organised with all of the anglers checked on to their respective boat. A competition marshall was on each vessel to ensure fair play. It was purely a competition of quantity above quality with catch and release being the order of the day and it didn't matter about speed, as it was 6hrs fishing that started and finished when the skipper said.
In total there were over 300 fish caught which included codling, whities, pollock and gurnard.
They had a presentation evening in the Cosmopolitan that some of the skippers attended. All of the anglers agreed it was a great day and thanked all of the boat skippers and crew for making it such an enjoyable day and I would like to thank the anglers and the rest of the skippers for pulling together and making the day a good one. The boats involved were, T J Gannet, Northstar,Lone Shark, Evelyn Jane, Bacchanalian, and Danny Boy.
