It’s fair to say that many anglers, if not most anglers, fish for ‘memories’ these days rather than food. A good camera is seen as an important part of the modern angler’s tackle. It’s no good telling people what you caught when they know full-well that the technology is out there to SHOW them what you caught! The September 2011 camera deals from Woolworths are well worth a look!

When buying a camera for fishing, there are a number of considerations to take into account. Obviously, you want to make sure that the picture quality and ease-of-use are up to scratch. To be honest, though, it’s hard to go wrong with most modern cameras!
When I fish, my main consideration is portability; there are times when I’m quite happy taking my SLR. It’s a big old thing, but if I’m fishing from a mate’s boat and have plenty of space, it’s no big deal. As well as fish shots, it allows the user to take some great scenic shots, too.
Other times, however, I want something that will fit in my pocket and can be used in a flash (excuse the pun!). For this, I generally use my little Fuji and, to be honest, I’ve taken photos with that which would be good enough for magazine covers. Modern technology really is that good…even an old duffer like me gets the occasional good shot!
