There are books on angling and books on boats, but Angling Boats by Neville Merritt was the first book on owning and operating a small angling boat to be written specifically for the sea angler. The first printed edition was so popular it quickly sold out. It has now been updated and re-released as a digital edition which can be downloaded from the web site www.boat-angling.co.uk. Published by Arford Books, Angling Boats covers the fundamental principles of boat handling, navigation and safety, plus many other topics of interest to anglers – including anchoring, marks, equipment, weather forecasts and DIY.
This book will be an invaluable aid for anyone thinking of buying a boat, in the process of buying their first boat, or for existing owners of angling boats who want one book to cover all the subjects they need to maintain and operate their boat safely, and fish successfully.
Angling Boats is written and published by Neville Merritt, an experienced sea angler with over 30 years of boating experience. “I realised this book was needed when I saw many questions being posted on Internet forums by boat owners,” says Neville. “The first edition became a top seller in its category and was very popular. This updated digital edition will make it easier to obtain for a wider readership and I hope it will help many more anglers who want to learn more about boat ownership.”

About Neville Merritt and Arford Books
Neville Merritt was brought up near the Blackwater estuary, and was boating before he could walk. Neville caught his first real fish using a toy rod, and boats and fishing have been his passion ever since.
When he was a teenager, his father bought a Norwegian fishing boat in which they both learnt a great deal about boats and the sea. Neville bought his own boat as soon as he could afford one, and has owned boats ever since. He lives in Hampshire with his very understanding family, and fishes from his boat whenever he can, usually off the Hampshire and Sussex coasts. Neville and his boat “Salar” feature in the RNLI film “Serious Fun” on sea safety for anglers.
Angling Boats is his first published book. Having written the text, he found mainstream publishers were more interested in subjects with wider interest, so he set up Arford Books to publish the book himself. The first edition of Angling Boats is now out of print and second hand copies are keenly sought after.
